Very few doctors actually pay attention to the nutritional relationships between your thyroid and vitamins and minerals. But they’re critical.

In module 4 we’ll dive deep into the nutrients you need based on the results of your genetic testing. We’ll find out what you’re deficient in to make sure you’re getting the nutrients you need to support your immune system, reduce inflammation, and regain a healthy thyroid.

Module 5
Nourishing The Body Through Clean Eating

We’ll continue your forward progress by tackling your diet and clean eating, which will help balance blood sugar & electrolytes. Your diet, together with addressing nutritional deficiencies, will be a powerhouse toward healing your thyroid. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of different diet plans in-depth, and customize a diet for you and your body based on your nutritional needs and your genetics.

Module 6
Toxins

If your body isn’t flushing out accumulating toxins, you’re never going to get well. Supporting the liver and clearing out the pathways in your lymph system are critical to regaining your health. That’s why in module 6 we take a deep dive into eliminating dangerous toxins from your body such as fluoride, everyday chemicals like make-up and skincare products, and heavy metals.

Module 7
Exercise

Exercising supports your immune system by getting blood pumping through your body. The increased circulation allows your white blood cells to check for pathogens, bacteria, infections, parasites, and a whole lot more. You’ll learn safe and healthy ways to move so you can get the exercise you need without hurting yourself if you’re in a weakened state.

Module 8
Infections and Parasites

When it comes to infections and autoimmune disease, some people have Lyme, mold, or chronic Epstein-Barr virus and don’t even realize it. By this point in the program, your body will be much stronger and better equipped to handle the treatment and die off that fighting infections, pathogens, or parasites may cause. 

Module 9
Gut Health

Having a healthy gut is critical to overall health. When your gut is compromised, an overabundance of bad bacteria crowds out your beneficial bacteria, hampering the production of the active thyroid hormone. If we find you need to go on an elimination diet or antimicrobials in order to restore your gut health, I’ll work very closely with you to make sure that it’s done in a safe and healthy way.

Module 10
Hormones

Your hormones are fundamental to all the systems in your body. They tell your body how to breathe, grow, drink, and eat…the list goes on and on. In short, if your hormones aren’t healthy and functioning correctly, you’re in trouble. That’s why in addition to making sure your hormones are healthy and firing on all cylinders, I’ll also be bringing in a guest expert to answer any additional questions you might have.

Module 11
Healthy Ageing

I don’t know about you, but I want to age well. I’m not only interested in getting your thyroid healthy so you feel better now, but I also want to equip you with everything you need to be able to take your health into your own hands throughout the rest of your life so you can reduce the risk of age-related diseases, have clear, beautiful skin, and look amazing for your age.

Lifestyle

Here we come full circle and pull it all together. I’ll make sure you have everything you need to have an overall healthy lifestyle, create the right routine for your life, and set up an ongoing care plan that works for you. Module 12 is about maintenance and discussing the possible challenges that will come up, because let’s face it, life is never easy. I’ll equip you with what you need to face the ups and downs that will pop up in your journey towards lasting health.

Thyroid, Genetics and Natural Support

The first thing we want you learn in this program is some basics about thyroid function and how your body works. We’ll teach you how to interpret your blood tests and what you want to aim for to improve your metabolic rate, energy levels and the body to work well. Sadly, many of the reference ranges are not developed for optimal health, knowing this information can help you understand your body and start to take charge of your health. One thing you learn in this module is to always ask for a copy of your test results from your Dr, specialist, or health practitioner. Way to often we are told “everything is fine” when in fact, it may not be! You will also learn a little about DNA and the power of epigenetics for healing your body.

Mindset, Stress & Adrenals

Many people don’t realize this, but stress has an enormous impact on your health…so much so that chronic stress:

  • Slows down the thyroid
  • Creates inflammation in your body
  • Contributes to autoimmune disease 
  • Causes poor quality sleep (which your body desperately needs to heal)
  • Can make you irritable, anxious or depressed 
  • May affect your brain function or memory

And much, much more…

Sleep, Rest, and Recovery

“Enough sleep is just as important for good health as nutrition and exercise.” -Ward Plunet

One of the biggest breakthroughs for me after getting sick was finally admitting to myself that I needed to rest… that I simply couldn’t carry out the same schedule I had when I was healthy.

And neither can you.

Research shows that if you consistently fail to get enough sleep, you’re at increased risk of chronic disease and are much slower to heal.

As a result, people waste time and a lot of money on supplements too early in their healing journey, while things like:

  • High stress levels
  • Adrenaline
  • Cortisol
  • And exhaustion

Continuously sabotage the positive effects those supplements might otherwise have.

So if you’re anxious to get started on supplements and diet, I want to encourage you to slow down and trust the process

I can tell you from experience that reducing stress and getting the rest and sleep your body needs are the foundations on which your body’s health is built.

In module 3 we’re going to focus on the importance of your circadian rhythm so we can get it running on a healthy cycle and give your body the environment it needs to heal.

  • Steps to take to get your cortisol low and your melatonin high (an important sleep hormone) as you go through your nightly routine
  • Different teas that are effective in slowing down the body and preparing it for sleep
  • Effective nighttime routines around relaxation

And many other ways of ensuring that you get healthy, restful sleep each night.

Nutrient Deficiencies and Hydration

Very few doctors actually pay attention to the nutritional relationships between your thyroid and vitamins and minerals.

But they’re critical.

Bear with me for just a minute, as this is important to understand:

Doctors usually measure a hormone called TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)…But TSH doesn’t just magically appear.

In order for your brain to regulate this hormone your body needs sufficient amounts of Protein, Iodine, Zinc, Iron and Selenium.

But this is just the first step in the process.

TSH then produces T4, which is converted into T3.

To produce these thyroid hormones your body needs vitamins and minerals, which many people are low in, without these basic building blocks you can develop hypothyroidism – or if you are on medication you may not be able to convert your thyroxine (T4) into the active form (T3) that is needed for so many functions in the body – energy, regulating body temperature, brain function, reproductive function, heart rate etc etc 

To complicate matters even further, most doctors will only test for TSH without looking at T4 or T3…which can lead to all sorts of problems.

That’s why in module 4 we’ll be diving deep into the nutrients you need based on the results of your genetic testing.

We’ll find out what you’re deficient in to make sure you’re getting the nutrients you need to support your immune system, reduce inflammation, and regain a healthy thyroid.

The goal in all of this is to minimise it.

We can’t eliminate it altogether because we live in a very toxic world.

But by detoxing your body, and minimising your contact with toxic exposure, we can help support our body while it’s healing.

Gut Health

Gut health is a popular topic these days, but sometimes work needs to be done before people jump into very restrictive diets.

Having a healthy gut is critical to overall health, but if it’s approached in the wrong order or the diets are too restrictive, food sensitivities can develop and sometimes people can get worse instead of better.

Hi, I'm Dr Denise Furness

I’m a geneticist (PhD), nutritionist and fitness professional.

I help people identify triggers and underlying causes of their health challenges so they can live a more balanced and fulfilled life. I specialise in nutritional genomics and epigenetics aka personalised health and believe there is no one size fits all when it comes to diet and lifestyle.

On a personal note, I know how short life can be and what it is like to suffer. I have overcome an autoimmune disease myself and lost my Mum to early onset Dementia. Through these challenging experiences and my research into genetics along with the power of nutrition and lifestyle medicine I have made it my mission to help as many women as possible get back to thriving!
